The terms of the agreement will give Boyd access to FanDuel’s sportsbook technology and services for its online platform; in return, FanDuel will be able to operate mobile and online sports betting services under its brand in states where Boyd is licensed.
Boyd operates 29 casinos across 10 states upon the completion of two pending acquisitions, while FanDuel has 8 million customers and a presence across 45 states..
The deal will cover all states where Boyd currently holds gaming licenses and in future, excluding Nevada. It also covers states included under Boyd’s market-access agreement with MGM Resorts International.
Keith Smith, President and CEO of Boyd, said: “Through this partnership, Boyd Gaming and FanDuel Group will be in excellent position to successfully capitalise as sports betting and online gaming expand across the country.”
“By joining forces with FanDuel’s nationally-known brand, as well as their considerable technical expertise and resources, we will be positioned to build market-leading sports-betting and online gaming operations in each state as they move forward with these new forms of entertainment.”
The agreement is subject to state law and regulatory approval.
