Intralot has transitioned the British Columbia Lottery Corporation’s (BCLC) retail lottery system to the LotosX Omni ecosystem, a cloud-based technology platform.
This move marks the latest development for both Intralot and BCLC, positioning BCLC as one of the first lotteries globally to adopt a fully cloud-based system.
The project involved converting BCLC’s central gaming system and deploying around 8,000 new lottery terminals across 3,400 locations in British Columbia. The deployment includes Intralot’s PhotonX terminals, compact units and self-service terminals, designed to improve user experience and operational efficiency.
A new Digital Signage system has also been installed to facilitate communication with players at retail locations.
BCLC President and CEO Pat Davis commented: “BCLC is excited to introduce our new lottery system and terminals to our valued players across the province. This transition to the new Intralot LotosX Omni platform will help sustain and modernize B.C.’s lottery business and support future growth for the benefit of our communities.”
Intralot’s recent financial performance, as outlined in its FY2023 report, showed a 7.3% decline in revenue, totalling €364m ($391m). However, gross gaming revenue increased by 1.4% to €348.6m and EBITDA rose by 5.4% to €129.5m. The company’s lottery games segment contributed 53.4% to total revenue, followed by sports betting and IT products.
In addition to the BCLC project, Intralot has been active in expanding its operations in 2024. The company extended its contract with the state lottery operator in Morocco, signed an agreement with Magnum Corp in Malaysia and partnered with FanDuel for the Washington DC lottery.
