ESPN Bet has commenced operations in North Carolina, coinciding with the state’s legalisation of sports betting.

The mobile and web platform offers various betting options across different sports and leagues, including straight bets, parlays, props and in-game wagering.

Additionally, users can access daily odds boosts, custom offers and promotions integrated with ESPN content and personalities.

To mark the launch, ESPN Bet is hosting a gathering at Rally in Charlotte on 15 March, featuring ESPN’s Stephen A Smith. The event aims to engage fans aged 21 and above and will include refreshments, music, activities, prizes and screens displaying college basketball games.

Jay Snowden, Penn Entertainment CEO and President, said: “We’re thrilled to bring ESPN Bet to North Carolina, which marks the first new state launch under our ESPN partnership. Together, we’re excited to engage with sports fans across the state and deliver an exceptional sports wagering experience. We commend the North Carolina State Lottery Commission and all of the stakeholders involved in establishing this new legal sports betting market.”

Mike Morrison, ESPN Bet and ESPN Fantasy VP, added: “Launching ESPN Bet for North Carolina fans is a pivotal moment. This marks a significant stride forward, building on the momentum from our inaugural launch in November. Now, fans have the chance to align themselves with a sportsbook backed by the trusted ESPN brand, offering an unparalleled experience in the world of sports betting.”

Penn secured market access in North Carolina through a partnership with Quail Hollow Club, a Charlotte-based private golf club. Additionally, ESPN Bet serves as the exclusive official betting operator of the Wells Fargo Championship, a PGA Tour Signature Event to be hosted at Quail Hollow Club in May.

In addition to ESPN Bet’s venture into North Carolina, Underdog has also launched its sportsbook in North Carolina. Following the launch, the provider promises to bring new features including additional ways to make bets, increased deposit and withdrawal options and original games.

In line with its commitment to responsible gaming, ESPN Bet offers tools and resources for responsible gaming, including limits on time, deposits and wagering amounts.

The North Carolina launch follows ESPN and Penn Entertainment’s agreement to launch ESPN Bet Sportsbook, with ESPN Bet operational in 16 states initially. ESPN Bet’s pre-registration for North Carolina commenced earlier this month, accompanied by incentives for new players and a celebratory event hosted by Stephen A Smith.
