The Flutter Foundation, a non-profit organisation supported by Flutter Entertainment, has been officially launched in Ceuta, Spain.
This initiative is part of Flutter’s global goal of improving the lives of 10 million people by 2030. The Foundation aims to address inequality and social challenges through initiatives in education, entrepreneurship, technological development, sports promotion and employability improvement.
These efforts are part of Flutter’s sustainability strategy, the Positive Impact Plan, which was introduced in 2022. By the end of 2023, Flutter reported progress in enhancing the lives of 1.5 million people.
On its launch day, the Foundation formalised two key agreements to benefit Ceuta. In collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Youth, the Foundation will provide 80,000 euros in scholarships for STEM studies, supporting disadvantaged families and promoting gender equality in scientific careers.
Additionally, partnering with the Government of Ceuta, the Foundation plans to develop initiatives aimed at improving the city’s inclusion and quality of life.
The launch event was attended by political and business leaders, including Juan Jesús Vivas Lara, President of the Autonomous City of Ceuta; Cristina Pérez Valero, the Government of Spain’s Delegate in Ceuta and Kissy Chandiramani, Minister of Finance, Economic Transition and Digital Transformation.
Representatives from various sectors also showed their support. Dan Taylor, Flutter International CEO, stated: “We aim for this initiative to make a significant difference in communities, starting with Ceuta.”
Juan Jesús Vivas Lara commented: “Ceuta is proud to be the headquarters of this important initiative and to have a company like Flutter as an ally. The Flutter Foundation will be an engine of positive change for many people. We are committed to supporting its mission and collaborating closely in its work for the social, economic, educational and technological development of the city.”
Elisa Miguel Fonseca, Flutter Foundation President, stated: “We are very serious about launching the world’s first Flutter foundation. Our mission is clear: to work in close collaboration with the communities most in need to promote positive and lasting change in Ceuta society and in a second phase, in all of Spanish society.”
Flutter Entertainment reported a 24.6% increase in revenue in 2023, driven by the US market and FanDuel’s leadership. Despite a net loss of $1.2bn due to non-cash charges, the company reported positive early 2024 results, with a 23.4% revenue increase in the first 11 weeks. Flutter continues to expand its global presence, including a secondary listing on the NYSE and acquiring MaxBet in Serbia.
