The long-term deal will allow sports betting operators access to content across all WTT events, which includes the World Table Tennis Championships.

The sports betting supplier will distribute rights to all tiers of the revamped WTT events schedule, including the new WTT Series, which will be launched in January 2021.

The deal sees IMG’s client list expand, which includes the ATP, UFC, the European and PGA Golf Tours, FA Cup and Serie A.

IMG Arena executive VP and MD, Freddie Longe, said: “Table tennis is at an exciting juncture in its history, and the plans to redefine the sport through WTT will provide sportsbooks with high quality and engaging year-round content.

“Operator feedback tells us table tennis is a property that has significant untapped potential and one which the industry feels will benefit from an improved sports betting solution.“

Table tennis betting has seen significantly increased popularity during the suspension of live sport. In its May trading update, William Hill said table tennis has proved popular with players during lockdown.

EveryMatrix CEO Ebbe Groes also previously told Gambling Insider that, while people wouldn’t watch table tennis the same way they watch football, they’re still betting on it because of its entertaining and fast-paced nature.
